thanksgiving in new orleans

Dean's House
New Orleans, LA

having grown up in a korean-american household, i had no idea that people make a green bean casserole and sprinkle fried onion rings from a can on top of the casserole. dont get me wrong. it was delicious, as was the deep fried turkey seasoned with tony cacchere.

i invited myself and my boyfriend to new orleans. dean lives there with his 2 college roommates, both of whom are out of town. dean's grandmother is in town. we decide to cook thanksgiving dinner.

the best kind of dinner party, is an impromptu one, where you pull off the flat sheet off the bed to place on the dinner table. the best dinner guest is a jovial frenchman experiencing thanksgiving for the first time, toasting with champagne and decorking with a sword. he cooks some kind of heavy casserole too, involving bacon, heavy cream, and cheese. delicious, of course.

meanwhile, there matt and jason are either dealing or looking for drugs, i am not sure. grandma's washing dishes and they're looking for something other than ice cream.

poor gabriel. he was so out of sorts. i was having the time of my life with dean, eating alligator sausage, crawfish, beignets and chickory coffee, going to a crazy burlesque bar, sensory overload. meanwhile, gabriel is getting pissed off because i am not paying attention to him.
